Public Health England have recently made local data publicly available on five important topics:

  • antimicrobial resistance
  • antibiotic prescribing
  • healthcare associated infections
  • infection prevention and control
  • and antibiotic stewardship).

(You can have a look here)

The hope is that public reporting will help raise awareness and development of local action plans. In addition, targets have been set for antimicrobial use in general practice and hospitals. How effective will these be?

We will report back later in the year!
